Application of Potassium Humate on Fruit-tree Growth

Time : 2022.04.15 Hits : 42

1. Introduction to Potassium Humate
Potassium humate is a kind of natural organic matter. It is the remains of animals and plants in ancient forests, grasslands and swamps hundreds of millions of years ago. Abundantly present in lignite, leonardite and peat, it is a kind of natural organic compound accumulated through the changes of the earth’s crust, the decomposition of plant microorganisms and a series of chemical transformations.

2. Properties of Potassium Humate
Humic acid (dry basis):≥60%
K2O:8-12%
Water Solubility :100%
PH:8-10

3. Functions of Potassium Humate
3.1:Improvingsoil: Potassium humate is a porous substance that can improve soil aggregate structure, regulate the water, fertilizer, gas and heat conditions inside it, increase soil exchange capacity, regulate its pH value and thus achieve acid-base balance. Its adsorption and complexation reactions can reduce harmful substances in the soil (including pesticide residues, heavy metals and other toxic substances), improve the natural purification ability of the soil and reduce pollution. At the same time, due to the colloidal properties of potassium humate, the microbial population in the soil can be improved and the growth and reproduction of beneficial bacteria are enhanced. Potassium humate can also alleviate the yellowing of fruit trees.

3.2:Stimulating the growth of fruit trees:
Humic acid contains a variety of active factors, which can enhance the activity of catalase and polyphenol oxidase in fruit trees, stimulate the physiological metabolism of plants, promote the growth of saplings’ roots, stems and branches, enhance their photosynthesis as well as accelerate the assimilation of nutrients.

3.3:Increasing fertilizer efficiency:
Containing active groups such as carboxyl and phenolic hydroxyl, potassium humate has strong exchange and adsorption capacity, which can reduce the loss of ammonium nitrogen and increase the utilization rate of nitrogen fertilizer. Degraded nitro-humic acid can increase the distance of phosphorus movement in the soil, inhibit the fixation of water-soluble phosphorus in the soil and promote the absorption of phosphorus by roots. It can also absorb and store potassium ions, which slows down the decomposition of potassium fertilizer, as well as chelate with poorly soluble metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, copper and zinc to promote the absorption of trace elements by fruit trees. What’s more, it also promotes the growth of microorganisms in the soil.
3.4:Enhancing stress resistance:
Potassium humate can reduce the opening degree of leaf pores, reduce leaf water evaporation and improve the water status of plants, ensuring normal growth of fruit trees even under drought conditions. Because it is an amphoteric colloid, potassium humate has a good surface activity, which inhibits the growth of fungi, enhances the cold-resistance of fruit trees and reduces occurrence of pests and diseases.
3.5:Improve fruit quality:
Potassium humate can form complexes or chelate compounds with trace elements, regulate the ratio of macro-elements and trace elements, strengthen the synthesis of sugar, starch, protein and various vitamins, convert polysaccharides into soluble monosaccharides, promote the synthesis and accumulation of starch and protein, increase the size and weight of fruits, enhance their sugar content as well as fruit powder
