Potassium Humate: Antidote for Organic&Inorganic Pollutants

The environmental condition ofagricultural fieldis of crucial importance to guarantee the safe production of agricultural products. Rich in active functional groups such as carboxyl and phenolic carboxyl, potassium humate has a strong adsorption effect on metal ions and organic pollutants and thusis of great significance for alleviating heavy metal and organic pollution. Researches have shown that the adsorption effectiveness of potassium humate to mercury can reach 90%in a solution containing 50 mg of mercury per liter, at pH=2 ; and its adsorption capacity to copper ( in ammonia solution ) can reach 100%. Soluble chromium and cadmium are highly toxic heavy metal elements. Studies have shown that at low pH, the active functional groups in potassium humate play a reducing role, reducing Cr(VI) to Cr(III), and finally Cr is adsorbed by soil colloid in the form of humic acid chelates, thereby significantly reducingthe chromium concentration in soil solution. Therefore, after the application of our potassium humate products, the toxic heavy metal ions in the soil undergo an adsorption reaction, thereby significantly reducing their toxicity.

Potassium humate can adsorb organic pollutants,  suchas polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, pesticides, herbicides, etc., through hydrophobic interaction,  ligand exchange and hydrogen bonding. It reducestheir active concentration in the environment through immobilization and precipitation and thus reduce their pollution to the environment; Potassium can also degrade macro-molecular organic compounds into smaller ones viareduction oxidation. In addition, after the application of potassium humate and other products into the soil,  the activity of microorganisms and enzymes in the soil enhances the self-purification ability of the soil, thereby indirectly promoting the degradation of organic matter; By promoting the growth of plants and their physiological and metabolic functions, potassium humate can significantly improves plants’ ability to degrade and purify organic pollutants.
